Testing your safety switch couldn’t be easier. You can do it in a matter of seconds! All you have to do is follow these simple steps:
- Press the TEST or ‘T’ button on the switch. If the device is in working order, this will change the position of the switch to OFF and instantly cut off the electricity supply to the circuit.
- To reset return the switch to the ON position.
What if the switch won’t reset? Switch off and unplug all your appliances, leads, and electrical equipment in the property. Repeat step 2. If the switch does reset there could be an issue with one of your appliances. Gradually plug in and switch on each individual appliance and repeat step 2.
If the switch fails to reset after you plug in a certain appliance, discontinue use of that appliance and have it inspected by a licensed electrician.
